What I Learned Along the Way
Breathing with 150 people

It’s a very different kind of work whether you breathe with 150 people, with ten, or one to one.
Yesterday was my biggest experience as a breather myself – in a group of 150 people.
What was important for me before we started:
– staying at the edge of the space
– protecting myself and my own energy
– not being touched or held by others
– staying with my own breath and my own process
There were a lot of processes in the space – all around me.
And I wanted to experience it as a breather. To know what's going on, and how I feel. How my clients feel when they breathe in this kind of space.
As a space holder and breathwork facilitator, there were definitely moments when I had to remind myself – over and over again – not to work for others. Not to send energy to others. Not to be focused on and disrupted by other people's processes.
And when I let all of that go and focused on my own process…
I went into a big process myself.
Wow. That was very unexpected.
Something very old came up. I'm not quite ready to talk about it yet.
But I did want to say this:
it's a very different kind of work and space whether you breathe with 20, 50, 100 or 150 people, with a small group of 10, or one to one.
Several people from our team chose not to breathe – it was too much for them. And that's a completely legitimate choice.
It was very professionally held. Really well done. But it's not for everyone.
I wanted to try it, experience it and see it – so I know from the inside what people go through when they breathe in such a big group.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
It was wonderful. And I've learned a lot.
