What I Learned Along the Way
My long journey with water

I accepted water. I never trusted her.
My journey with her has been long.
A swim teacher who kept pushing me back into the deep with a stick.
An uncle who taught me to swim by lying about his hands under my belly.
Wild sea at 14. A flipped canoe at 17, stuck underneath.
I accepted water. I never trusted her.
Three years ago I started to heal it - in 37 degrees, body temperature.
This summer in France I went further. Salt water. Warm water. And a cold source that called me in at 14.5 degrees, where two women held the space and one held my head in her hands and didn’t move them away.
That was the moment.
Deep gratitude to AIR School of Breathwork, to Doug and to Kerry - for holding such a beautiful, healing space. And to Lizzie and Doug, for hosting us in that magical place of theirs and nurturing us with the most delicious food.
I leave humbled. Nourished. Grateful.
The path of the breath is the path of the water.
